Skohns Canteen

Yes, i'm going through the pics in my phone and just writing short entries of places we ate.. since we started our kitchen renovation, i guess u can pretty much say we eat out a lot.. one day we were thinking of where else to have dinner, and mama suggested this place at Damansara Perdana.. yes, since mama rajin browse2 fb die, byk gak tpt she found out and suggested to go.. Cupcake Chapters and The Little Gerai for example (and sumer pon jenis makanan yg same kan hehehe) so that day we drove to Damansara Perdana and round2 sket to look for the place.. as usual, papa xjoin for dinner sbb "i'm ok je..." hehehe nothing to story2 just some pics i want to dispose of...

we ordered mushroom soup.. which was yummy.. previously only pizza hut nye mushroom sedap, tp tu style ala2 campbell.. now i'm liking these sorta wild mushroom soup.. sedapp...

we also ordered garlic bread...

it's still #Shaytober boohoo... i thought of having some salad tp xde serve la plak..  instead i ordered this jack potato with chilli n cheese.. time order tu i was thinking of gooey cheese mcm kenny rogers tu.. tp ni just mcm pizza je.. nevertheless, sedap gak la.. just one comment, perhaps they should put this under main course or something cuz it's kinda heavy to be a side dish...

then yaya n izad had lamb chop.. one pic je sbb same kan, just sauce je lain..

mama had steak..  i only had one bite n xingat sgt the taste.. but pinggan mama licin, so sedap la kan hehehehe

they also had some pastry tp lupe amek pic... xingat total baper, recipt pon xtau gi mane hehehe but again, another low point for this place, cash only.. xperasan la mmg usually these restaurants are cash only ke ape, but lately mmg cepat pokai and i don't have enough cash on me.. anyway, if u wanna try this place out, here's the address:

Skohns Canteen,
G-13, Perdana The Place, Jalan PJU 8/5G, Damansara Perdana.

Serai @ Paradigm Mall

xpayah la nak review this place sgt kan... kinda well known already plus eating for 3 pax, don't have that much pics to share anyway... but a few weeks ago, mama, yaya and i decided to have lunch outside.. susah sgt nk fikir a place to eat even though we kept telling ourselves to make a list of places to eat.. we didn't want to go very far, so decided to go to Paradigm Mall.. my first time there... aduhh boleh sesat la plak skejap kat dlm tu sbb xjumpe Serai.. apparently it was at the opposite building.. bagus la tu kan.. we almost gave up but then there was no other place tempting enough to go.. again, malas nk tulis panjang2, but this is what we had..

i had the Serai Platter.. so fulling and definitely not #Shaytober material.. luckily i haven't started then hehehehe

yaya had this chicken pramagiana...

mama had cantonese fried kuey teow i think (xingat sgt, tp sedap gak)

then all 3 of us drool over this kid dish, spaghetti chicken mushroom... sedap gler yummmm

for dessert, pavlova la since this is kinda like it's signature desert... mmg sedap cuz it's not too sweet so blh mkn byk... i think so far, Alexis n Serai has the best pavlova... Alexis win on the amount of toppings heheheh

after this, gonna have a desert session with yaya hehehe ngidam la plak... if i list down all the things sy ngidam nk mkn skrang, i'm not sure how long it'll take hehehe  anyway, till next time.. bye...

Happy Birthday Papa

Ok, so this post will be short cuz basically, i'm not really in the mood to write hehehe Last saturday was my dad's birthday.. he's 62 years old and insyaAllah panjang umur.. so naturally, we celebrate by eating out.. we're currently in the process of renovating our kitchen and since there were workers at the house, we had to wait till their done.. so we decided to have dinner to celebrate.. had some things to do that morning then went to klcc for brunch.. since it's #Shaytober, i had 'salad' for brunch.. i'm loving the salad bar that isetan supermarket have.. although the ones i had that day, had some cheese in it so not really 100% healthy hehehe

this is broccoli mixed with mac and cheese.. super yummy

 sautéed vegies.. yummmm

and since i'm doing "no sugar' on weekdays, i kinda treated myself to a mini milkshake =b

after that we got home and rest.. then we got ready for dinner.. our place of choice? Here i.e. Cupcake Chapters at Ukay Boulevard.. Papa didn't join us the last time we were there.. and since the food wasn't bad, we decided to take him there.. the place was kinda empty the moment we arrived, but got full soon.. not much to cite2 here, we just ate and sembang.. normal family dinner.. i had the same thing i did the last time we were there.. sedap oooo mashed potato tu pon sedap gak.. just kurang vegie je utk side dish die.. and also bummer mushroom soup habis *sob sob*.. anyway just some pics to share to add on from my previous review..

i forgot what this was called.. but yaya and izad had something similar..

this is the giant burger papa had.. doesn't look big but the patty itself was thick...

mama had this lamb chop..

we shared this desert since everyone was full.. too sweet for my liking..

the birthday boy.. Happy Birthday Papa.. we love u so much

apparently i was too hungry to snap a pic of my own food, but i had the same thing i did the last time we came.. don't remember the total for that day, but what i remember was the down point to this place.. cash only huhuhu imagine the horror on my face when i found out about it and had no cash on me.. terpaksa buat muke xmalu kat mama, pinjam duit sket.. luckily though yaya had some.. so Cupcake Chapters, pls get one of those swipe2 thing for credit cards.. even though the place is not pricey, not everyone have enough cash on them to pay the bill huhuhhu that is all...

Cupcake Chapter @ Ukay Boulevard

Last week, papa went to PD for 3 days so we decided to eat out on the 2nd night.. mama heard about this place from her friend, Cupcake Chapter kat Ukay Boulevard (name nak grand aje).. i like the place, quiet and service pon ok.. only dorg x serve appetizer dlu baru main course, tu kecamuk sket tp boleh dimaafkan hehehe sumer lapar xsedar diri sgt, org ade 4 je tp order food smp 7 hehehe 5 main course, 2 appetizers...the decoration of the place pon cantek gak.. ade teddy bear besar yg rs cm nk bawak balik jer.. anyway, short entry, just enjoy the pics k hehehe

the menu

the big bear greeting us

for appetizers, we ordered Chunky Wild Mushroom Soup.. sedap gak but ade black pepper.. tergigit huhuhuh
RM 13.50

we also had Crispy Tortilla Chapters Style.. cheese dip ni sedap gler, tp kitorg xhabis so tapau..
RM 19.90

I ordered Honey and Lemon Herbed Chicken.. sedap sgt.. mashed potato die pon sedap gak.. recommended hehehe
RM 19.90

yaya had Three Mushroom Pennoni Alfredo... ni pon sedap gak.. dah 2 kali yaya order pasta yg tibe2 sedap terlebih sket.. hari tu mkn kt The Gardens pon yaya order sedap  =b mama pon sker ni.. sian yaya since hers smp 1st, ramai org cilok food die hehehhe
RM 19.90

mama just ordered the Boston Fish and Chips... i like that the batter x thick sgt so rasa ikan and not just tepung je hehehe  x habis seketul, so tapau =b
RM 18.90

izad plak tamak.. order smp 2 main course =b alasan? kalau xhabis, blh tapau utk lunch esok.. ngeng hahahah so 1st she had the Macaroni and Cheese.. sedap but die sedih sket cheese ni x oren cm kt Kenny Rogers..
RM 19.90

and she also ordered Cajun Fried Chicken Wings.. the only thing i didn't taste that night sbb dh kenyang.. but according to izad, cajun chicken kt OU dlu2 tu lg sedap.. ni pon x habis gak so tapau..
RM 19.90

the table was full with our food and drinks.. we didn't have dessert cuz we were so full... they had a bunch of cupcakes (hence, the name of the place) and some cakes as well.. with all the food and drinks that we had, the total damage was RM 163.70, but totally worth it.. will definitely go again with papa (sure sumer dpt habis if papa join skali) and recommended too..

Chicken Enchiladas

Yes, my interest in cooking has grown hahahaha not really cooking la, just experimenting with a few recipes.. as a friend pointed out, i've only tried 'western' style of cooking.. and while i do cook normal traditional dishes, those are usually for normal days when my mum is not around.. like when she went for umrah or london, then i'll cook rice with lauk just like what she does.. but for testing purpose, i lean towards other types of dishes.. and yes, i was mainly influence by what the Shaytards are eating, hence the Quinoa Salad and the Alpine Mushroom Pasta i made here heheheh

so for today, i present to u the Chicken Enchiladas mommytard makes.. although bare in mind, this isn't the exact recipe from them.. it's just based on what i see when she film it.. this recipe is simple, not too much ingredients..

Ingredients:
Tortilla Wraps
Chicken (chopped up)
Hot Dogs (chopped up)
Onions
Garlic
Cumin powder
Teriyaki Sauce
Sour Cream
Cheese.. lots and lots of cheese

We added the hot dog, just for fun.. so basically, we chopped up the chicken and hot dogs (although note to self, cut them smaller).. and marinate them in teriyaki sauce.. i left it for a few hours but on the bottle it recommends about 20 minutes before cooking, or overnight for better results.. i even added a tiny bit of salt and some cumin powder (i don't know what it taste like, one of the recipein google used this and we just happen to have some cumin laying around the kitchen hahaha)

so diced up the onions and garlic, and with a bit of oil, fry them.. add the marinated chicken and hot dogs and just fry them till they're cook.. make sure that there's less moisture as u don't want ur wrap to absorb all the moisture.. when that's done, put it to the side to cool down a bit..

Next, just take out ur tortilla wrap, put some sour cream on it, put some chicken on it (and make sure it's not too full or u can't wrap it up) and lastly put generous amount of cheese.. wrap up the whole thing and make sure it's secured.. and as what mommytard does, line up all the wraps, sprinkle some cheese on them and just pop it in the oven about 10 mins or so..

needed some improvements but here's the result...

tasted ok hehehe

i should've gotten a pic of the inside huhuhuhh

Simple Ravioli

Among the disappointed recipes i've tried.. this didn't had much planning and thinking going into it.. i just thought i wanted to try another variation of pasta, and ravioli looked so yummy (or so i thought).. so that day at Hero Market, we bought some stuff to make a simple ravioli..

we had the mushroom ravioli itself..

used hot dogs for some 'meat'...

and this instant cheese sauce..

so basically i just chopped some onions and garlic as well as the hot dogs.. then fried them all.. at the same time, boil some hot water for the ravioli and wait till it's cooked.. put them all in one bowl... then mix some hot water with the cheese sauce.. later just pour it in the bowl and mix it all together (and you know that it's the best of both world)

the end result... i didn't like the ravioli though.. i was expecting real mushrooms inside.. instead they were like powdered mushroom hahaha shrooms and we got high  =b

this weekend, i'm making simple pizza since we have leftover cheese hehehehe will think of other things to try out... any ideas?

That Little Gerai @ AU5

So, for the long weekend, and after experimenting some 'new recipes', we decided to have our family dinner last night.. papa suggested to go to Village Park (errr kedai Neelofa huhuhu) but unfortunately it was closed.. on the way there, dh mention cpt think of Plan B in case tutup.. xsempat pon hehehe but then we thought of this place mama saw on FB.. but it was on the other end of the world (over k), kt keramat.. but since no one minded, we tried our luck.. not that hard to find, a simple place but was kinda impress by the setting of the place and it's ambiance.. it's small so might be good to reserve ur place 1st..

the menu

we ordered some mushroom soup for appetizers (RM8)..  yummy.. yg penting, not campbell soup hehehe

papa ordered short ribs with mashed potato and salad on the side (RM37).. pic blur sbb lighting kt sane sgt romantic hahahah

mama, izad n i each had lamb chop.. here's either mama's or izad, with mashed potato and salad on the side (RM27).. i had french fries n coleslaw for side dish (RM26).. sedap2.. tp xder pic huhuhuh

yaya had carbonara (RM16), which tasted ok but maybe prefer the one kt dave deli more sbb dh biasa makan situ..

we wanted to order tiramisu for dessert but dh xde, so mama and izad has ice cream instead.. for drinks, papa had ice cappuccino which he said tasted as yummy as coffee bean but cheaper hehehe mama had ice lemon tea, yaya had ice lemon tea with honey, izad had orange juice (at least bkn sunkist) and i had apple asam boi (which had too much serdak for me)..

overall, the food was good, the service was fast with no careless mistake or whatsoever.. total damage of the overall menu we had? a whopping RM182.50.. but totally worth it.. i'll give the place 8.5/10.. have no problem going again and would definitely recommend it to ppl.. their FB should have all the details but i don't have a link.. what i do have though is their receipt which has their address and phone number.. enough?

Kuih Keria Hj Jalil Limbongan

Oh the horror.. the things we do for our cravings =b so about 2 weeks ago, i attended my friends' wedding at Melaka.. fun fun time indeed even tho it was a short trip... i won't say much about the trip, but i will talk about our kueh keria hunting.. "hello, ni kueh keria ke?" hahahaha lawak2.. anyway, a friend of mine did some 'research' about things to do / eat at Melaka, and so she found out about this place.. suke kueh keria katanya tp jarang ade yg sedap haiihhh

so on that saturday, the history of Kuih Keria Hj Jalil Limbongan began hahahaha at first, we went out for breakfast then rest jap.. then got ready for our friends wedding.. and we thought of going keria hunting first since laku sgt and after googling, some ppl say by 4pm, they'll be sold out... and they only start selling around 2pm.. but then we were already a bit late so went to the wedding first.. took some pics, ate, fake smiles (yeay dpt telur) and then we're off.. we didn't quite know where it was at first so we just used google map.. and also stop by to ask for directions where this mak cik commented, mahal keria tu, kecik je dh 50 sen hahahaha pastu offer bli goreng pisang die.. eh org mengidam keria la  =b

so cari punye cari, we found the place... hmmm ade org tu dgr, kedai tu after pokok mangga.. xknla ade satu pokok mangga sepanjang jln tu kn... jenuh la nk slow down at every pokok mangga n tgk kedai tu ade ke x.. rupe2 nye after tanah perkuburan pokok manga huhuhuhu ngeng... it's actually next to Masjid al-ehsan Limbongan, after a kindergarten (if u're coming from Masjid Tanah)..it'll be on your left (if you're coming from the town, then it's on your right).. it's just a small stall with a pink signage... sebelah tu jual laksa.. both sedap gk, but i prefer the laksa kt kemaman (which i might be going this sunday weehhooo)

the infamous kuih keria hj jalil limbongan huhuhuh we bought errr  14!!!

they have a number to call if u want to book kueh awal2 in case they sold out.. "hello, ni kueh keria ke?"

we also had the infamous Klebang Coconut Shake.. line up panjang nye utk bli huhuhuh but naseb baek i just waited in the car  =b  sedap gk, ade texture isi kelapa, but would prefer more kelapa than vanilla ice cream kot.. anyway, it was a short but fun weekend.. i need more of these weekend  =D

till we meet again, byeee

Gobo Chit Chat, Traders Hotel

*** This post was originally written on 4 Nov 2012 ***

So for this years' 5 in 1 birthday celebration, we decided to try out Traders Hotel, near KLCC.. so far, we've had this 'tradition' of ours at Ole-Ole Bali and Le Meridien Hotel.. (click it to read and drool) n seems like we're trying to top off the previous place we eat.. so yeah, we decided to go to Traders since it's in the heart of KL (poyo).. unfortunately, mama wasn't feeling well that day since she just got back from Indonesia huhuhuh we didn't take much pics, cuz the lighting wasn't good for pics..

before makan, harus camwhoring dlm ladies hehehehe p/s: spot the skull

our fellow New Yorkers xde food sgt, so she had bbq lamb and prawn...

and by the look of it, i think this is hers too...

not sure if this was mine or yaya.. dim sum, satay, mixed vegie, sea asparagus and chocolate tart..

this is what i had, off course plenty of dim sum yummyy..... clam and mussels, some mee, sea asparagus and salmon...

Oysters and salmons.. yaya had these.. i tried oyster once, didn't like it.. loved the salmon tho..

we didn't have much deserts.. we shared these.. owh, they had a chocolate fountain like le meridien too...

yaya had these yummy cookies & chocolate pie? (dunnoe what it's called)

lps makan pon harus cam whoring dlm ladies hahahahaha

so yeah, not much pics to share.. basically they had the cold food area, where the salads were + shrimp, salmon etc.. then they had like a sandwich area and also a Japanese food area where they had sushi and miso soup... then they had the bbq area which is near the rice and all the lauk2 heheeheh and also an area dedicated for desserts.. i didn't take pics of the food bar so it's kinda hard to explain what they have, but overall it's a good place to eat and satisfying for my taste..

i like the ambiance at Traders more, since there were less people and it felt more cozy.. the lighting was low which made me feel like no one is watching us while we're eating.. bright places tend to give the impression that i have to be extra well mannered hahahaha anyway, i can't remember the total damage for it all but i'm pretty sure the buffet cost about RM80++ per head.. so not so bad for me.. what's sure is that it's slightly cheaper than Le Meridien, plus better parking.. so yeah, so if u have some extra ka-ching to spare, u could try this place out...
